The Three Peaks of Yorkshire! (all over 2000ft)

For many, A circular 24 mile walk Challenge in twelve hours!

My first introduction to the Three Peaks of Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m) was, like many others, as a city school kid aged 15.

I still have the certificate which proudly states that I completed THE THREE PEAKS MARCH within 12 hours!

Having since run and walked many times over those three fells I can assure anyone that they never get any easier and will always present a major challenge whatever the time of year!

Always check the Weather and take the right gear!

Most people approach the walk from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, ascending Pen-y-ghent , Whernside and Ingleborough in that order.

Others prefer to start elsewhere to avoid the usual early morning crowds here. You might also wish to call in and register at the very popular Three Peaks Cafe beforehand!

Please Note: As with most outdoor activities, walking & fell running can be a potentially hazardous activity.

Go prepared and well equipped and always take note of what the race organisers have to say!
