After a recent rummage, we came across a complete set of the Up & Down Magazines which were published in the early 1990’s and edited by Dave and Eileen Woodhead.
Having announced their intention to cease organising their series of hugely popular races at the end of 2017, we thought it would be a nice idea to highlight yet another example of their massive contribution to the fell running scene by reissuing the magazines in digital format.
These digitised copies have been done with the kind permission of the original publisher, CompassSport, Dave & Eileen and also Boff Whalley of Fellternative fame. There were 11 issues in total with the last being printed in June 1992 - Just click each visual to download!.
In 2015, Dave and Eileen were awarded the British Empire Medal in recognition of their services to fell running but far from retiring, they have chosen instead to focus their considerable energies into other aspects of the sport. Details of these can be found on their website, www.woodentops.org.uk. Happily, their races are now being run by Wharfedale Harriers.
