Keld Countryside and Heritage Centre is the 'shop window' for Keld Resource Centre and opened in May 2011. The Centre occupies the former horse stables and coach room in the Literary Institute Building which have been sensitively restored for this purpose.
The Centre tells the story of our village including hill farming, local people, vernacular architecture, wildlife conservation and the history of the chapel buildings. Positioned in the village centre and close to the ‘coast to coast’ trail the centre is proving to be a greatly valued addition to village life.
In 2022 they opened the Old School Living Heritage Centre which now houses much of the collection from the former Swaledale Museum in Reeth.
The Centre is free and open to the public between 09.00 and 17.00 daily.

Explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in Autumn! Enjoy walks for amblers, ramblers and serious walkers led by friendly guides, keen to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the dales.
This year’s Festival features the route of the sell-out fell-run/challenge event, the Swaledale Marathon. Festival walkers will enjoy some of Swaledale’s finest scenery at a more sedate pace over four days.
Richmond, picturesque and steeped in history, is a market town that is the perfect backdrop for this unique festival.

Swaledale Outdoor Club is based in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The Club facilitates outdoor activities in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, providing a graded programme of activities throughout the year.
Club activities consist of Canoeing, Caving, Climbing, Cycling, Fell running, Mountain biking, Orienteering, Skiing and Walking.
In all activities standards range from novice to expert – come along and join the fun!
